First day of Syawal

First day of Syawal 1433 Hijriah fell on the 19th. August 2012...and for the past few years we decided to follow "the trend" of having colour theme for our dresses on the first day of Eid,

..and this year's was orange!...so you can imagine from the following photos how bright the family photos were...(and the morning was bright as well..hehehe)

Nazeem in his "Baju Melayu"..eating after the Eid-ul-fitr prayer.

Faraheen in the process of hugging her grandmother.

Batrisyia kissing the hand of her grandmother in the ritual of asking forgiveness and wishing the Eid.

and Balqees...

posing!..hehe..

Ever since I was small, the first day menu would be "ketupat nasi"/"nasi impit" with "kuah lodeh" and rendang of beef or chicken. My mother would cooked the "kuah lodeh" very early in the morning then and it would be ready to be eaten before the Eid-ul-Fitr prayer..

but for the past years she has passed the baton (and honour) to me to take over..and it was my turn to wake up very early to prepare this...

My version of above "kuah lodeh"(lots of veggies etc cooked in coconut milk) was different from hers but she loved it (though when I first started many years ago, we prepared two versions..hers and mine!..hehehe)

My sister made this beef rendang..Alhamdulillah this year she'd recovered almost fully and able to make this..(she even made cookies, including the "melt-in-the-mouth semperit cookies" ~ our family favourite, thank you sis!)

Every year we have had certain favourite spots for photography...and this year it was here..guess the flowers arrangement by my mum made it more "lively"...hehehe
