Medical leave - Part 2

A neighbour greeted me when I was coming home from the clinic yesterday...and commenting on the fresh fish in his big plastic bag, he said that he just got back from his workplace ~ the wet market, and suddenly took some out and gave it to me after knowing that I was living with my family!

Have yet to cook it...but I chuckled everytime I thot about it....

mmm...normally patients receive...

flowers,

fruits,

or chocolates,

but i got ~ fresh fish!...

hehehe...

Later on in the evening, whilst relaxing in front of the TV, the minisode of "Different Strokes" was aired ~ "Small Claims Court"

~ where at first he was amazed that there was a special court for small people... :-)

...then in the court room scene he "talked" to the bench at the back of the court when asked to address his grievances to the bench (judge)...hehehehehe....

couldnt find that particular minisode in the youtube but managed this one instead.

What a day...

:-)))

Alhamdulillah, I'm better now...

Medical leave - Part 1

I ignored the pain on my left thigh when i first started to feel it last week, and when i suffered a little bit more after i had to walk to work, i put it down as me not getting enough exercise...

...but few days ago when i had trouble walking and climbing the stairs, i realised the seriousness of it and decided on Tuesday to go for reflexology.... felt good for a while..the feet getting the pampering ..(.errr...suffering more like it...hehehe...)

But yesterday morning, finally went to see the doctor and was told that i suffered from nerve pain...given an injection, some pills and 2 days medical leave.

Been resting and limiting my movements since yesterday, and thou i still could feel some pain, Alhamdulillah i'm very much better now...

A timely reminder to take better care of myself...

Something new to learn from this...

Thigh-Nerve-Syndrome ~ Meralgia Paresthetica

Symptoms

A painful, burning sensation on the outer side of the thigh may mean that one of the large sensory nerves to your legs--the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve (LFCN)-is being compressed. This condition is known as meralgia paresthetica (me-ral'-gee-a par-es-thet'-i-ka).

* Pain on the outer side of the thigh, occasionally extending to the outer side of the knee

* A burning sensation, tingling, or numbness in the same area

* Occasionally, aching in the groin area or pain spreading across the buttocks

* Usually only on one side of the body

* Usually more sensitive to light touch than to firm pressure

Diagnosis

During a physical examination, your physician will ask about recent surgeries, injury to the hip, or repetitive activities that could irritate the nerve. He or she will also check for any sensory differences between the affected leg and your other leg.

Restrictive clothing and weight gain are two common reasons for pressure on a nerve. Your physician may ask if you wear a heavy tool belt at work or if you consistently wear a tight corset or girdle.

Another reason may result from a seatbelt injury during a motor vehicle injury.

Treatment:

Non-Surgical

~ Rest periods to interrupt long periods of standing, walking, cycling, or other aggravating activity.

~ Heat, ice, or electrical stimulation.

~ Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications for 7-10 days.

~ Weight loss (if applicable) and exercise to strengthen abdominal muscles.

~ Not wearing tight ftting pants or belts.

~ Anti-infammatory and pain relief medication.

~ Injections

Surgery may be necessary in extreme cases.

Project - Tigers Alive!

WWF-Malaysia’s Tigers Alive! project was created following the end of our human-tiger conflict work in FELDA Jerangau Barat, Terengganu in 2003. With support from partners and stakeholders, this project aims to develop long-term measures in order to improve the protection and management of key tiger populations and their habitats.

The Tigers Alive! project focuses on inter-related components within the Belum-Temengor-Gunung Basor landscape. The components include reducing human-tiger conflict and raising awareness through educational programmes in Jeli, Kelantan, addressing tiger landscape connectivity as well as monitoring of tigers and their prey. Each component forms an important part of a broader approach to addressing tiger conservation in Malaysia.

Today's short notes

Six years on....

...and a sad moment this morning,
as I had to bid goodbye to my "adventure" mate,
Kembara...

no more travelling with you,
as i have to say adieu.

I'll be okay later,
when I get a new "kereta" (car),
~ :-) ~
and my wish for Kembara,
she'll get a good owner.

**************

Tonite's dinner...

Without my Kembara, walking home from the office (* my new exercise), I planned to buy some chicken and make a simple chicken soup..

but i had to rush back when the rain started to fall, and so we had rice porridge for our dinner instead.

(...excuses, excuses..to skip on d diet..hahaha...)

...rice porridge...

...fish and veggie...

...fried crab...

...salted fish...

and my current fav. side dish :

...simple "acar" ~ cucumber, tomato, onion, lemon juice, olive oil, salt and pepper...

mmmm...

* ~ this new exercise regime ~ its not bad really, its only about 10 to 15 mins..hehehe

Laksa Penang

On the third day of Syawal we thought of making "Laksa Penang" for our guests.

So, early that morning Faraheen and I went to the market to buy the ingredients at Pasar Cabang Tiga, but because only few traders opened their shops, some were hard to get that finally we had to go to Pasar Payang to buy the last ingredient - 'bunga kantan'.

~ bunga kantan ~

With my sister, Nor as the main "chef" ~ she's really good at making this northern dish ~ it was done roughly by 11.30 am, just on time as our guests started to arrive then :-)

~ the Laksa dish for our guests ~

Alhamdulillah we had many guests that day and the laksa was finished by early evening,

...and some of us didnt have the chance for second helping!..

:-)

Back in K.L, I still had the craving for it, so I made it last weekend, with extra portion in case Rois and Nieza could drop by after their open house invitation in Selayang (but they didnt )...

however it was Chom's "rezeki", she came by and had late lunch with us..hehe..

~ my version of Laksa Penang ~

Now I have a slight craving for "Nasi Dagang Terengganu" - and just b'cos a friend, out of the blue asked me for the recipe! (...mmmm...been quite a while since I last made it.)

(Luckily it's only slight - Amal brought some yesterday during d AJK's meeting...Alhamdulillah...)

...may be its time to use that new steamer I bought last month...hehehe...

Balqees & the "Geng : Adventure Begins"

**************

It was Balqees's 2nd birthday a month ago (11th September) and we didn't have any idea what to give her...

But while we were packing our things for Hari Raya break, I remembered about the "Geng" DVD that I bought earlier and yet to watch, and thought that it should be a perfect gift for her...

(photo taken from : http://www.upindanipin.com.my/worldofgeng/products.html#)

How true...she loved it and during the 10-day period we were in kampung, it had been played more than twenty times!

~ I enjoyed watching it too, some parts of it anyway, didn't manage to catch the whole movie.

She really loves Upin & Ipin from the series with their tagline "betul, betul, betul" (right, right, right).

(...but for Balqees of course it's only "tu(l), tu(l), tu(l)")

:-)

This is the musical scene from the film "Geng: Pengembaraan Bermula" ~ the song "Damai" (peace) by Ito...

I'm guessing that by now Balqees and her sisters have memorised the lyrics...he he he...

Now I have to buy another copy of the DVD and hope to finally enjoy the whole adventure..yippeeee!!!!!!!!

hehehe...

:-)

May she always be blessed by Allah SWT...amiin..

We love you...

Quake - 2

When I felt the slight tremor whilst relaxing at home the other evening, I first assumed that "a big vehicle had passed thru' our area" which I thot was not so logic as it must be a really big one to make that kind of tremor to our home.

...my second thot was that I was on the verge of black-out or something, which scared me so I quickly sat up...

When both turned out differently, I just shrugged it off but about half an hour later I saw the news flash on TV about the Sumatera earthquake..and that the tremors were felt at some parts of Malaysia.

That nite I searched the updates online, both on Samoa's tsunami and the earthquake at West Sumatera...

and now, with the death tolls on the rise, especially in Sumatera, its so sad..my condolences to the families, may they be strong in facing these..

n May Allah bless the souls of the departed ...

These tragedies "can very well serve as reminders for us not to take Allah’s favors for granted, to be more careful as well as to be better aware and conscious of our true priorities in life, resolving oneself to lead a more conscious and religiously fulfilling life."

Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala knows best...

Been a while since I joined "Virtual Run" (VR), and with long MCO - Movement Control Order (and no interest from family members..h...
